Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Travail HQ ("Travail", "we", "us"). They apply when you use Travail, including travailhq.com, app.travailhq.com, and the Travail desktop app (together, the "service"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

What Travail is

Travail is software for freelancers and small businesses to track time, manage clients and projects, create invoices, and accept online payment for those invoices. Travail is not a bank and does not hold your funds. Online payments are processed by Stripe and paid out directly to your own Stripe account.

Your account

You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract to use Travail. You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for everything done under your account. Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.

Pricing and fees

Time tracking, timesheets, and creating and sending invoices are free.

When your client pays an invoice online through a Travail pay link, Travail charges a platform fee of $3.00 plus 0.25% of the payment amount, once per invoice. The fee is deducted from the payment automatically, so your client pays only the invoice total. Stripe's own processing fees for card and bank payments also apply and are deducted by Stripe.

If you collect payment outside Travail (for example by check or direct bank transfer) and mark the invoice paid yourself, no platform fee applies.

We will give at least 30 days' notice by email before changing our fees.

Payments and Stripe

To accept online payments, you must connect a Stripe account and agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Services Agreement. You authorize Travail to share your information with Stripe and to create payments, refunds, and fees on your connected account as needed to provide the service. Stripe, not Travail, is responsible for processing payments and paying out funds.

Refunds and disputes

You decide your own refund policy with your clients. You can issue a full or partial refund of an online payment from the invoice page in Travail, and the refund is returned to your client through Stripe. Travail's platform fee and Stripe's processing fees are not returned when you issue a refund.

You are responsible for chargebacks and disputes on payments to your account, and for any related Stripe fees.

Acceptable use

Don't use Travail to bill for illegal goods or services, to commit fraud, to send spam, or for any business Stripe prohibits under its restricted businesses list. Don't try to break, overload, or get unauthorized access to the service or other users' data. We may suspend accounts that break these rules.

Your data

You own the data you put into Travail. You give us permission to store and process it only to provide the service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle it.

Cancelling

You can stop using Travail at any time. To close your account, email [email protected]. Since there is no subscription, there is nothing to cancel or refund. Platform fees already charged on paid invoices are not refunded.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Travail running, but we can't promise it will always be available or error free. We may change or improve features over time. If we make material changes to these terms, we will let you know by email before they take effect.

Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Travail is not tax, legal, or accounting advice. You are responsible for the accuracy of your invoices and for your own taxes.

Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by law, Travail is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or lost profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the platform fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
